Feedback from Talks and Workshops Pre 2012
As a photographer I am always interested in what people think of my work, my workshops and my talks.
Much of what I have learnt has come from listening to others and what they think of what I have done so far and then using their comments to improve and develop further.
I am very interested to receive your feedback on my work and my style please take a moment to let me know what you think and if you have a website with some of your work please do share it with me.
The following are examples of feedback people have left prior to 2012.
Feedback on specific workshops, tours or talks can to be found against the descriptions of these events.

“A brilliant evening last week at the Deepings club. Full of knowledge, great photos and only a hint of physics. You had my attention from start to finish.”
Simon – December 19th 2011
“Hi Bob, Thanks for a great presentation at the Deepings club last night. Your style of practical talk is what I thought a camera club would be about, in the two years I have been going, last night was one of the fews times my expectations have been met.”
Ali Goacher – December 14th 2011
“Hi Bob, Just wanted to congratulate on last night’s club session. I really enjoyed it – your shots were great and the presentation really professional. Thanks a lot – it must have taken you ages to put it together.”
David & Mo Mulley – December 3rd 2011
“Thank you very much for your interesting talk on macro photography at Banbury Camera club. My wife and I found it very interesting and we were fascinated by the detailed photographs you showed us. We certainly intend to have a try at macro photography.”
Shirley Kevern – December 2nd 2011
“Bob, on behalf of the members of St. Neots Camera Club please accept a huge vote of thanks for your recent superb presentation. You are so very generous in sharing your knowledge and presented it in such a manner that even those with little photographic experience were able to gain knowledge and thoroughly enjoy the evening. Following your suggestions my personal Christmas present list is now so large that Santa will most certainly have trouble with getting down the chimney! Looking forward to meeting you again and hopefully attending one of your workshops.”
Darren Lewis. Banbury Camera Club – November 30th 2011
“Many thanks Bob for a fantastic evening on monday, I really enjoyed all aspects of your talk and you have inspired me to look into macro and close up photography.”

“Excellent talk last night at Banbury Camera Club. One of the best visiting lecturers they have had. Has spurred me on to get into macro photography.”
Graham Barber – November 25th 2011
“Thanks for a most enjoyable lecture earlier this week on Tuesday, it was one of only a few memorable and enjoyable lectures that I have been to at the camera club the others being Heather Angel and Andy Rouse. I will hopefully look forward to joining you on one of your workshops next year where perhaps I can learn a little more about the practicalities of macro photography, in the meantime I will invest in the extension tubes you suggest.”
Geoff Unwin. St Neots and District Camera Club – November 24th 201
“Bob….. thoroughly enjoyed the presentation last evening at St.Neots…as a newcomer to the club I was extremely impressed and found it very useful for me as complete novice to the hobby. If you have any additional tips for the novice yet to buy my camera equipment, I’d be very grateful for the thoughts and comments of a professional with many years experience.”
Helen Jackson – November 17th 2011
“Thanks for a great talk last night, it was a really useful insight into the realms of macro photography. A set of extension tubes will definitely be added to my Christmas list, I’ve recently bought a Canon 400mm lens which I love, especially the detail it gives of butterflies etc, but there is always the problem of needing to be 4m away from the subject. It will be great to be able to get closer to the subject and be able to focus!”
Ian Draper – November 11th 2011
“If you are looking for a really good photo experience in Africa then look no further than at Bob’s trips. I had the most wonderful time in Southern Tanzania during October 2011 – just so much fun and delight and truly fond memories. His advice, guidance, enthusiasm and guidance were just what the group wanted. Highly recommended.

“As an attendee at the lecture given by you at the Nottingham Outlaws Photographic Society, I would like to say thank you for such an interesting, informative and entertaining lecture presented on 22.09.11. The feedback from my friends, colleagues and guests who also attended has been positive across the board with even our most seasoned photographers stating that he learnt something new from the experience. The follow-up access to the PDF download from your website is a positive boon, assisting and reinforcing the presentation and providing excellent support to a very intense and information packed talk. Brilliant and I hope that we can have you back in the future.”
Claire Randall – Dunchurch Photographic Society – September 30th 2011
“Bob I just wanted to say a big thank you to you for your talk and presentation you gave last night at Dunchurch Photographic Society. Although technically, I found some of the concepts a little hard I was fascinated and certainly inspired to get out there and practice! practice! practice! Many thanks once again.”
Simon Coates – Dunchurch Photographic Society – September 16th 2011
“Hi Bob, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say how much I enjoyed your talk last night at Dunchurch. All too often guest speakers do little more than show a slideshow of their work so it made a refreshing change to have a speaker who was prepared to share some of their methodology. I also appreciated the fact that you dealt with some of the more technical issues and I thought you explained them very well indeed.”
Mal Aston – Newbury Camera Club – September 10th 2011
“Thank you for one of the most inspiring talks that I have listened to in many years. Needless to your pictures were out of this world. Keep up the good work and again my sincere thank you.”
Thank you – Collette Haworth – September 10th 2011
“I would just like to say thank you for an excellent presentation on macro to Newbury Camera Club. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it has indeed sparked my interest in developing my skills in this area.
Your download pdf files are really useful and in a language that I can understand. It was a pleasure to have things explained in a simple manner with technical information kept to a minimum (with details to locate more information as required). For me, your presentation was definitely worth the effort of rushing down the M6 from Preston to arrive at the club on time!
Jo Stephenson – September 9th 2011
“Bob can I please thank you on behalf of our club. The evening on Tanzania you gave us last week was absolutely fantastic and enjoyed by everyone who attended. We have not had so many positive comments following a presentation for a very long time. Your presentation style was clear and you photos breath taking. For health reason I cannot go on one of your trips although I would very much like to. I do however hope that others from our club will book on your trip in March.
As you know we advertised this as an open event and invited non-members to attend. It was unashamedly a fund raising exercise and having totted up the ticket sale, expenses etc. our treasure informs me that we made £182 for club funds. We have also managed to attract 4 new members to the club so it was a winner all round.
Thank you again we will certainly be asking you back for another presentation next year this time it will be to the club members only but I know it will be eagerly anticipated.”
Dr Susan Sharma – August 15th 2011
“Your photographs are marvelous”
Suzanne McNicholas – May 24th 2011

Please, Please let me know when future workshops are available. PS If all my teachers were like you when I was at school, I would have done much better! Thanks again Paul”
Bill Jordan – May 20th 2011
“Hi Bob. Just wanted to thank you for a great day at the English School of Falconry yesterday. “Bob, On behalf of Duston Camera club I would like to thank you for your excellent presentation on Macro Photography. This was a superb evening pitched at exactly the right level. As you may have gathered at halftime we had members present from beginners to advanced. Everyone went away with something from the night and I had several requests to book you again in 2012 which I will do early in the new year.”
Alan Horn – April 21st 2011
“Hi Bob Thank you very much for the splendid talk on macro photography it was most informative and the presentation was superb. I have not enjoyed a presentation so much since I saw Barry Thomas at Jessops on Photoshop in the 90s. I shall be pestering our committee to have you visit again. “
Andy Hooker – March 30th 2011
“Bob, You are building a great website demonstrating your passion for photography. More than that it is educational, instructional and inspirational. It’s so much more than a gallery of images. You’ve set the bar high for the rest of us. Looking forward to your next upload. Andy”
Stephen Flemming – March 25th 2011
“Bob I wanted to send you an e-mail to thank you for today’s workshop on photographing dragonflies. The venue was superb, you have clearly done your research. What was equally obvious and appreciated was that you really knew your subject, both photography and dragonflies, and how to convey it to a novice! I have come home with some stunning photographs and have already bored the family ! I will be off to our local water meadows as soon as I can to try to get some more shots. Thanks again. Stephen
Angelina Stimpson – March 25th 2011
“Bob, just a quick note to thank you for the trip today to Oxford Botanical Gardens. I have always felt macro was too complex for me and the equipment would be far too expensive. I now know different and am looking forward to experimenting for myself. I will be ordering some extension tubes from Warehouse Express at the weekend.
Your coaching was superb and encouragement was really appreciated as was the loan of you extension tubes – you were so patient with all of us. I must also say I did also enjoy using the extreme Macro lens you had but it is completely outside my reach at the moment. I have signed up to your mailing list please keep me informed of future trips you run. I will be a regular attender !
Susan Brown FRPS – March 17th 2011
“Thank you Bob for your tireless energy and willingness to share your knowledge. Your web site is looking good.
You have been a great support to me having found it difficult to make the transition from darkroom to Digital, still floundering with technology but getting there.
Sylvia Adams – February 25th 2011
“Bob gave a talk at Kettering Photographic Society on macro photography. He was enthusiastic and inspirational. His talk was backed up by images, easy to relate to slide show coupled with numerous stories and technical information. Everyone left the evening buzzing, itching to pick up their cameras and focus on anything that moved. “
Sue Grantham – February 19th 2011
“Bob, You recently presented your macro talk to our camera club. It was superb, I enjoyed every minute and learnt so very much. I cant wait to play and explore some of the techniques you described with my own camera. Well done, well presented and very informative. “
Graham Whithead – February 12th 2011
“Bob, I am an amateur wildlife photographer myself but my images are no-where near as good as yours. Thanks for such an informative and helpful site it is really great to see something more than the normal collection of photos. I particularly like seeing the settings you used on your camera. I shall certainly keep looking back as you develop it.”
